Hello, I'm Joanna

I am a Registered Psychologist with a broad background working with military personnel, veterans and their families, elite and recreational athletes, and individuals navigating perinatal and parenting transitions. I also have a strong interest in men’s mental health and supporting people to perform and thrive across different life stages.

As a mother of two, I am particularly passionate about working with children, adolescents, and parents. My current postgraduate studies at ACAP University College (Master of Psychology Practice – Clinical) have included a focus on working with children and families, eating disorders, and culturally responsive practice across the lifespan. I bring warmth and insight to my work with neurodivergent clients, including those with autism and ADHD, and have a natural ability to build rapport and support clients with complex presentations.

My therapeutic approach is person-centred and attachment-informed. I focus on building trust, recognising client strengths, and creating a collaborative space for reflection and growth. I draw from evidence-based models suited to each client’s goals and context, and often integrate humour and playfulness to support emotional safety.

My Story

I hold a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology from the University of Wollongong, and a Master of Applied Psychology (Sport & Exercise) from the University of Queensland. I am currently completing my Master of Psychology Practice (Clinical) through ACAP.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my busy young family, getting outdoors—especially to the beach—and engaging in sport and physical activity.

I am particularly interested in working with mood and anxiety concerns, trauma, adjustment challenges, and clients navigating major life transitions. I value the process of piecing together each person’s story through assessment and therapy to better understand how things came to be, and how they can meaningfully change.
