Hello, I'm Ben

Provisional psychologist, passionate about culturally responsive mental healthcare.

I’m a provisional psychologist and ADHD coach devoted to providing evidence-based and person-centered mental health care.  My trauma-informed approach involves constructing a secure and compassionate environment where my clients can feel safe in exploring both their struggles and goals, helping us work together to enhance wellbeing and life satisfaction. I care deeply about bringing a caring, authentic and compassionate approach to each session in recognition of the bravery and vulnerability that coming to therapy involves.  By continuously remaining abreast of current psychological research, as well as  building both genuine and warm therapeutic relationships, I strive to ensure that everyone who walks through my doors receives the individualised  care and support they deserve.

I completed my Bachelor of Psychology  (Honours 1st Class) at the Australian College of Applied Psychology, and achieved my Master of Professional Psychology at Macquarie University. My passion lies in working with trauma, including post-traumatic stress and complex trauma, as well as anxiety, panic, depression, grief, eating disorders, and relationship difficulties. I also find it incredibly rewarding to work with neurodivergent individuals, empowering them with effective neuro-affirming strategies used to make positive and meaningful changes in their lives.

My Story

My clinical style is versatile, drawing on a contextually appropriate therapeutic modality based on the unique context and experiences of my clients.  As an Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) trained clinician, I cherish the neuro-affirming nature of EMDR and the way it addresses mental health concerns like PTSD through natural adaptive memory processing. I also place great value on  how Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) equip my clients to improve their emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and holistic functioning by developing skills in cognitive defusion, thought restructuring, and mindfulness. Additionally, I’ve witnessed first-hand how pivotal Schema Therapy can be in supporting clients to  resolve persistent and chronic difficulties by analysing childhood experiences.

Outside the clinic, I self-care by spending quality time with family and friends, often whilst simultaneously attending book clubs, running Dungeons and Dragons, painting miniatures, and hosting board game nights.
